UniShack ("we," "us," or "our") operates the UniShack website and related services that help students find off-campus housing. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account information — email address and profile details when you sign in or create an account.
- Listings and messages — content you submit when listing a sublet, contacting a property, or messaging through the platform.
- Usage data — pages viewed, device/browser type, and approximate location derived from IP, used to operate and improve the product.
- Cookies and similar tech — to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand site performance.
How we use information
- Provide and improve the housing marketplace
- Authenticate accounts and prevent abuse
- Respond to support requests
- Send transactional emails related to your account or listings
- Analyze aggregate usage to improve campus coverage and UX
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We may share data with service providers who help us run the platform (hosting, email, analytics), when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of UniShack and our users. Property inquiries may be shared with the relevant housing provider so they can respond to you.
Data retention
We keep account and listing data for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account by contacting us.
