Unit 2

Unit 2 is an undergraduate residence hall complex at the University of California, Berkeley, three blocks south of campus at 2650 Haste Street—about an 11-minute walk. Official housing pages locate the complex on Haste Street west of College Avenue, near Sproul Plaza, the Student Union MLK Jr. Building, and the Student Center, in a Southside neighborhood with dining, shops, and downtown Berkeley nearby. First-year, continuing, and transfer undergraduates are eligible. Six buildings sit around a large central courtyard: Cunningham, Davidson, Ehrman, and Griffiths Halls, the Towle Hall mini-suites, and Wada Apartments. The high-rises use traditional corridor-style layouts: rooms along a central hallway share communal bathrooms and lounges. Most floors are all-gender, and single-gender floors are also available. Doubles and triples are the usual occupancies. Towle mini-suites have two bedrooms—either two doubles or one double and one triple—that share a private bathroom with shower. Towle also hosts two theme programs: Bloom, the Asian American Community Program, and the South Asian, Southwest Asian, and North African Living Community (SSWANA). Residents of Units 1 and 2 use Crossroads dining commons, a half-block away. Residence hall contracts include the Blue and Gold Meal Plan, with upgrades and add-ons available. A central building houses the unit office, mail services, and rooms for meetings and events. Below the courtyard are Academic Services Centers, multi-purpose rooms, a small gym, and conference rooms shared with the original high-rise towers. Campus residence halls also include utilities, high-speed Wi-Fi, furnished rooms, laundry, study spaces, bike storage, and live-in staff. UniShack does not assign rooms.
