Martinez Commons

Martinez Commons is an on-campus residence hall at the University of California, Berkeley, two blocks south of campus at 2520 Channing Way and about a 13-minute walk to campus. UC Berkeley Housing describes it as a premium, modern, eco-friendly hall in the urban heart of Berkeley, close to cafés, restaurants, and shops. Continuing and transfer undergraduates are eligible to live here. Rooms are traditional corridor-style along a central hallway, sharing communal bathrooms and lounges. Doubles are the most common occupancy and typically do not use bunk beds; triples and a limited number of singles are also offered, and most singles campuswide are reserved for students with a documented disability need. Bathrooms include all-gender and single-gender options. Transfer Hubs place transfer students together on dedicated floors. Crossroads dining commons is across the street at 2415 Bowditch Street, and residence hall rates include the Blue and Gold Meal Plan, with upgrades and add-ons available. On site, Housing lists a hotel-like lobby with soaring ceilings and natural wood, a large outdoor courtyard, an Academic Center with flexible study spaces, spacious study lounges, an on-site fitness center and recreation room, self-serve laundry, front desk and mailroom services, and bike storage. Rooms are furnished with a Microchill refrigerator and microwave combo, and rates include utilities and high-speed Wi-Fi. Live-in UC Berkeley staff are available 24/7. Martinez Commons is the only campus residence hall that remains open during winter break, and room rates include occupancy then. The same complex also includes Martinez Commons Apartments.
