Birch

Birch is an undergraduate residence hall on UCLA's Hill. UCLA Housing lists it as De Neve Plaza - Birch, an on-campus undergraduate building at 361 CEY Drive West, Los Angeles 90024. UniShack places Birch about a 6-minute walk from campus. The hall is part of De Neve Court, which includes De Neve Plaza (Acacia, Birch, Cedar, Dogwood, Evergreen, and Fir), Dykstra Hall, and De Neve Residence Hall (Gardenia and Holly). UCLA Housing groups De Neve with other plaza residences. Plaza rooms are double or triple occupancy, with either a private bathroom or a bathroom shared with an adjoining room, and plaza buildings have air conditioning. De Neve is broken into smaller buildings with courtyards and grassy nooks between them, plus study lounges for the individual buildings. Each resident is furnished with a twin extra-long bed, desk, desk chair, dresser with closet and drawer space, and drapes. Approximate standard measurements for De Neve Plaza rooms are 11 feet by 12 feet. Three-person rooms have one bunk-bed set and one elevated loft-style bed. Birch laundry rooms are on each floor at the end of the hallway. Residents add funds and run machines through the WASH Connect app, and Acacia and Birch have a laundry alert that can notify residents when machines are available. De Neve Court's 24-hour front desk is in the Acacia building of De Neve Plaza. For Birch, vending with accessible microwaves and a water refill station are on the third floor of the De Neve Podium building. De Neve dining is in the lower level of De Neve Commons and serves foods inspired by North, Central, and South America. A meal plan is required with an on-campus housing contract; students select a plan when accepting a housing offer. UniShack does not assign rooms or process housing applications. Newly admitted freshmen who submit a housing application by May 1, 2026 are eligible for guaranteed four consecutive years of housing. Confirm current dates, list building and room preferences, and apply on the official UCLA Housing portal.
